一年一度的St. Patrick's Day又來臨了。

St. Patrick's Day 是每年的3月17日為了紀念愛爾蘭守護神 St. Patrick。這個節日是愛爾蘭的國定假日，在美國雖不是國定假日，但是從1737年3月17日開始，每年到了這個節日全美都會狂歡慶祝，特別是愛爾蘭後裔。

最特別的是，在芝加哥還會舉辦“綠染芝河”的儀式。由快艇將綠色染料灑向河中，將整條芝加哥河靠近河口與密西根湖交界處染成鮮綠色。

So why green?  Green, the color most widely associated with Ireland, with Irish people, and with St. Patrick's Day in modern times, may have gained its prominence through the phrase "the wearing of the green" meaning to wear a shamrock on one's clothing. At many times in Irish history, to do so was seen as a sign of Irish nationalism or loyalty to the Roman Catholic faith. St. Patrick used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish. The wearing of and display of shamrocks and shamrock-inspired designs have become a ubiquitous feature of the saint's holiday. (Source: Wikipedia)

We were invited to Yun and Paul's for a "Green" afternoon party.   Everyone had to wear green clothes and bring green food, even Yuki.  Too bad my hubby was the only one not dressed in green.    His excuse was that I did not make a good-looking green outfit for him but only made for Yuki, so he refused to wear his green T-shirt. 

Spending the entire morning making a green Kimono for Yuki, I was proud how the little cute dress turned out.   (Tze was complaining how come Yuki got a handmade outfit while his pants are still sitting on the chair with a missing button for months...)

Yuki's green dress was 100% cashmere made from Kai's shrunk sweater.
